World Rally Championship drivers have spent their last few days on the Coffs Coast meeting and thanking emergency service personnel. They’ve also dug deep, donating thousands to assist with disaster relief.

The Australian leg of the 20-19 World Rally Championships, scheduled to kick off in Coffs Harbour on Thursday, has been cancelled. The decision was made late last night, after extensive consultation.

It’s something the Coffs Region has been waiting months for, but there’s been a shock last minute change to the Group 2 Women’s Tackle comp. Organisers have canned the traditional 9’s format due to low entry numbers.

In what could be a major setback for competitors, the final round of the National Rally Championships at Coffs Harbour will not go ahead next weekend. It had to be cancelled as bushfires continue to rage across northern New South Wales. However organisers say the World Rally Championship round will go ahead. (NOTE: VISION ONLY)

And while many events were cancelled, the country’s top 3D archers took part in the National Championships near Nambucca. Teenagers were among the hundreds of people competing for a national title.

Runners will take over Macksville this weekend, for the state’s oldest foot race. With the event now in its 66th year, organisers are expecting a huge turnout.

The nation may have stopped for the Melbourne Cup earlier this week, but tomorrow Kempsey will stop for its own great race. A field of 14, including three locally trained horses, will line up at this year’s Kempsey Cup.

Group 2 rugby league CEO Jim Anderson has been made a life member of Country Rugby League. It comes on the eve of its merger with New South Wales Rugby League…and decades after he first played for the Bellingen Magpies.

The North Coast Bulldogs have announced a 23 man train-on squad for next year’s Under 23 Country Rugby League Championships. Mitch Willbow and Tristan Scott along with eight other players from Group 3 were named in the representative team.
