There’s an added incentive for long distance runners competing in this year’s Coffs Harbour Running Festival. $5000 will be split between the top five place getters in both the men’s and women’s half marathon event.

The Cronulla Sharks have touched down in Coffs Harbour ahead of Saturday’s NRL game against the Titans. Players hit the training park this morning before heading out into the community – to meet some of their biggest fans.

To Group 2, and a make-up game saw two of the top teams face off in a tense match at Woolgoolga, yesterday afternoon. Macksville came out strong, but that all changed in an eventful second half, and the action turned to a sideline dispute.

A Josh Griffith hatrick and a Aaron Groom double saw the Wingham Tigers smash the Old Bar Pirates in a Group 3 catch up match yesterday afternoon. The 52 points to six win – ending the Pirates winning run.

To the Australia Cup – and the Coffs City United Lions and Coffs Coast Tigers have been knocked out, in Round 6. The Tigers were beaten by a blazing Cooks Hill outfit… before a good fight also led to a loss for United… overthrown by Broadmeadow Magic.

Anticipation is growing in Tamworth ahead of tomorrow’s country champs. Rugby players from across the region are ready to head into battle… as part of the Central North squad.

The competition was fierce in the over 40s go kart event in Coffs Harbour today. More than 90 racers tested their skills in the qualifiers, before the finals get underway tomorrow.

Group 2 action continues this weekend with washout games from the second round… While all eyes will be on a top end clash between Woolgoolga and Macksville. Grafton and Orara’s hit out was last night – the Axemen coming away with the win.
