It was another successful day for Knights players at the league World Cup. Dom Young scored in England’s win over Papua New Guinea, while Anika Butler also got over the line in her side’s victory over Brazil.

Five NRLW Knights will represent their country this week at the Women’s World Cup. Two made the Jillaroos’ squad. while Shanice Parker and Autumn-Rain Stephens-Daly will play for the Kiwis.

The Jillaroos are making the most of their camp on the Gold Coast – building new combinations ahead of next month’s Women’s World Cup. For premiership-winning Knights, Caitlan Johnston and Yasmin Clydsdale, the tournament is a chance to cap off an already amazing year.

Teenager Jesse Southwell and new mum Shanice Parker have taken out the Knights NRLW top gong – both crowned Player of the Year at last night’s season awards. Both stars insisted the other deserved the accolade more.

The celebrations continued for the Knights today with four players named in the Australian Jillaroos World Cup squad, while two were picked in the New Zealand team. It caps off a memorable weekend for Newcastle, after claiming its first NRLW title.

The Hunter will turn on a rousing reception at Newcastle’s City Hall tomorrow night, for the new NRL-W premiers. Celebrations continued into the night, after the Knights triumphed, with a resounding grand final win over the Eels.

The Knights are wary of a Dragons outfit out for revenge in Sunday’s do-or-die NRLW semi final. The Red V not only lost to Newcastle last week – it lost the grand final last season.

The Knights will be boosted by the return of star fullback Tamika Upton, for the club’s first NRLW semi final. Newcastle will take on the Dragons, just a week after thrashing them on the Central Coast.
