The honey bee industry has welcomed news of an $18-million compensation package, to help rebuild hives impacted by the Varroa Mite. The fact that the scheme will benefit both commercial AND recreational beekeepers – seen as a key part of the recovery process.

A Newcastle soccer club has spoken out – claiming it’s paying more than its fair share, in ground fees. The Mayfield crew says lighting, alone, is costing the club more than $20,000 a year – leaving it no choice, but to pass costs on to the community.
