Since reopening last month, the region’s Freestyle Bouldering Gym has gone from strength-to-strength. Inundated with new members, all looking for a point of difference in their fitness routine.  

The revamped New England Rugby Union competition will kick-off tomorrow, with eight teams set to compete for this year’s title. The Tamworth Magpies are one of those – a club that’s welcomed plenty of new changes.  

Its only early days, but Oxley Vale Attunga is already displaying the hallmarks of a premiership-winning team. Currently atop of the premier league ladder on goal difference, but the club’s coach is pushing for more.  

The Tamworth Swans will play their first home game this Saturday, when Aussie Rules returns to No.1 Oval. The women’s team have started their season on a high, but will need to maintain their form to make the grand final.  

After months of anticipation, New England Rugby Union will launch back into action this weekend. It’s one of the only North West competitions to get a run this season.

Tamworth Hockey Association has launched a brand-new competition. It’s the first time the organisation has run a mixed Under-18’s tournament, with last night’s trial games proving just how popular the sport is.

Cricket and football fans in Guyra will soon benefit from a new grandstand at the Lions Park Sporting complex. The new seating will host up to 300 patrons and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The $120 000 build is funded by the state government.

In Tamworth’s Hockey, the Tudors have defeated Workies 5-2. But it was the women’s game between Services and the Waratahs which proved to be the match of the round.

The North Companions have won their second game of the season, beating Gunnedah 2-1. Gunnedah is yet to take home a win this season.
