AFL clubs across the north-west are calling on young players to take up umpire roles. They’re hoping to recruit several new faces before the season resumes in July.

Tamworth Gymnastics Club will welcome several industry stars to its mats over the next week. The Club’s athletes may still be training from home, but, this week, they’re set to be inspired… by gymnasts of an Olympic standard.

It only seems like yesterday that the New Zealand Warriors touched-down in Tamworth for a two-week stay. The NRL club is merely days away from leaving, but there’s no shortage of talk they’ll be back to repay the faith.  

Rhiannon Byers has been representing Australian in women’s rugby sevens since 2018. With the World Sevens Series has been currently postponed, Byers is using her downtime to recover from an injury.

Central North and New England rugby zones are currently exploring all revised competition options for the season. But there’s a further plan B in progress too – it’s been overseen by New South Wales Rugby development officer Garry Walsh.  

It’s not just cafes and restaurants that have received the green light from the government as it begins to relax restrictions – some sports have also been given the go-ahead. From today, cyclists can go on group rides again, 10 at a time.  

Northern Inland Football could be the first sporting code in the region to return to competition in 2020. It’s developing a framework to present to the Office of Sport, in order for players to get back on the field.  

While other sporting clubs work to get back on their feet, Tamworth Mountain Biking is peddling through the COVID chaos. They’ve seen a boost in rider numbers, all while taking their competitions virtual.

North West Rugby Clubs met via ZOOM over the weekend, to discuss the governments three step approach to normality. Though the season remains mostly in limbo, as there are no plans for the season to resume before July.
