With social gathering restrictions enforced, Sunday’s Tamworth Cup will go ahead with little fanfare. Although it’ll still be a massive day for the Tamworth Jockey Club and those directly involved in the racing industry.  

Josh Hazlewood was a shining light for Australia during last year’s Ashes series, before a hamstring injury limited his summer Down Under. With Australia hosting the T20 World Cup later this year, Hazlewood is eager to put his name in the selection mix.  

With most sporting codes suspended indefinitely, Northern Inland Football has turned to the Play Station and Xbox to keep players connected. Yesterday they hosted the FIFA 2020 Isolation Cup, with Liam Georkas and Zac Walters winning the respective competitions.  

This week, New South Wales Rugby launched its ‘Positive Coaching Platform,’ to keep players engaged in isolation. They can access sessions in their own backyard by downloading the app.  

In 2016, Molly Taylor became the first female, and youngest ever driver, to win the Australian Rally Championship. The former New England Girls’ School student accomplishing plenty of things this year, despite this season being suspended.  

In just over three weeks time, the Wests Tigers were scheduled to play the Canberra Raiders at Tamworth’s Scully Park. While that match isn’t going ahead, Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe says, the club remains committed to the region.  

Tamworth Baseball Association is feeling confident that a 2020 winter season will hit the diamond, later this year. It comes after Baseball New South Wales confirmed there will be no play or training permitted during COVID-19 lockdowns.
