He’s Australian equestrian royalty, these days living in England and commentating on the sport which he’s mastered. But three-time Olympic Gold Medallist, Matt Ryan, also spends time conducting clinics. He was in Armidale today helping riders on their journey.  

The region is well-known for its Australian hockey representatives, and soon its reputation will grow. The new home of Tamworth Hockey is under construction, with the centre expected to be up to international standard.  

Three Tamworth athletes will get their first amateur boxing experience tomorrow night, despite being newcomers to the sport. Helping the trio along their journey, a coach who certainly has plenty of credentials.  

Over the past nine months, the Armidale Jockey Club has had to transfer race meetings to other tracks due to the drought. Now, after receiving a good drenching, racing will return to Armidale on Sunday.  

Several New England football clubs are weighing-up their options for the 2020 season. Toing and froing the idea of breaking away from Northern Inland Football, they’re considering joining the unsanctioned UNE Life competition.

Young hockey stars will hit the field in Bathurst this Friday, for the Centre of Development program. It encourages players to keep fine-tuning their skills during the off-season and selectors will be watching on.

It’s considered the fastest growing format of cricket in the country, and it’s easy to see why. Over the next two-days, Tamworth is hosting an over-67 veterans tournament, with players arriving from far and wide.  

The interclub criterium series is shared across a number of North West and New England cycling groups. Today all roads led to Tamworth – bringing some of the region’s elite riders to town.  

The Tamworth Roosters are looking to boost their numbers this season, with today’s come and try session helping drive player recruitment. The junior AFL squad has seen together two rival teams bury the hatchet in a bid to grow the sport.  

The Greater Northern Tigers suffered losses today in the Andrew Johns and Laurie Daley Cups. The Central Coast Roosters walked away triumphant – the matches drawing an impressive crowd at Farrer High School.
