It’s become a staple event for the Tamworth Clay Target Club – one held in conjunction with the Country Music Festival. Despite its unusual name, the ‘Hillbilly 100’ now attracts some of the finest shooters from across the country.

Tomorrow night’s Xtreme Bulls Australia event in Tamworth will see the country’s best and bravest ride out. It will also feature the country’s best bulls – regarded as athletes in their own right.  

The Tamworth Harness Club is nearing the half-way mark of its January racing carnival. This Sunday it’s the heats of the Golden Guitar – a race that’s been running since 1984.  

Tim Coates steered Oxley Vale Attunga to four premier league grand finals in his five-year reign as the Mushies coach. Last season he took-up another form of football mentoring, but this year he’s back – clipboard in hand.  

Tamworth veteran cricketers will be kept busy over the coming weeks, with matches in Scone and Wauchope. A charity event is being planned for next month, with funds going to our fire-fighters.    

Budding cricketers made their mark on Farrer High School’s pitch today, crafting their skills with the best of the best. Former Australian cricketer Nathan Bracken was on site… teaching youngsters what it takes to earn an iconic baggy green.
