Tamworth has seen its fair share of talent on horse-back… but today, a globally-recognised face shook things up at the AELEC. American horse-trainer Buck Brannaman had every eye on him as he taught the ins and outs of horsemanship.

The nomination period for this year’s FFA Cup is drawing to a close. Clubs have up until January 14 to nominate for this year’s competition. The tournament provides football teams across Australia the chance to go head-to-head with professional A-League sides.

Northern Inland Football is changing its competition format this season, but it’s determined not to hurt players’ hip pockets in the process. The organisation’s promising it won’t increase registration fees.  

Since it’s inception, the National Rugby Camp in Armidale has attracted kids from interstate and even overseas. Over four days, players will undertake a variety of drills and skills – overseen by elite coaches, before putting practice into play.  

Tamworth has taken out this year’s Walter Taylor Shield, beating Northern Rivers by 102 runs in Armidale today. The North West boys set Northern Rivers a total of 196, with Tamworth bowling them out for 94.  

Some of the world’s leading female pilots took to the skies today for day one of the Women’s Gliding Championships. The blustery conditions and stifling heat at Lake Keepit didn’t prevent all 47 pilots taking-off.  

We’re used to her leading the Australian Spirit Softball team, however Tamworth’s Stacey Porter will be wearing the sky blue over the next seven days. The Australian captain will line-up in a star-studded New South Wales side tomorrow, when the Women’s National Softball Championships begin in Western Australia.
