2020 is shaping-up to be a bumper year for the region’s premier sporting venue – Scully Park. In the coming months, the New South Wales Waratahs and Wests Tigers will play competition matches at the venue.

His biggest goal for 2019 was to make his National Rugby Championship debut. Not only did Bo Abra achieve that, he played in the competition’s grand final – now the young front-rower is about to start another chapter in his playing career.  

For many, the 2019 New England Rugby grand final would be a season highlight hard to top. While Robb College’s win in the decider will long be remembered, 2019 also provided many memorable moments for the Tamworth Magpies and St Alberts.  

In previous seasons, Tamworth and Walcha have dominated Central North Rugby Union. And while they both ended up playing against each other in their third consecutive grand final this year – the competition was arguably one of the closest.    

Looking back on the Group 4 Rugby League season and while North Tamworth Bears maintained their dominance, rival clubs closed the gap on the premiers. Werris Creek and Kootingal both showed premiership hallmarks during the season, but nothing was going to stop the Bears dynasty continuing.

The final preparations are underway for Quirindi’s annual Boxing Day races. The meet is a must for up-and-coming trainers and partygoers alike.
