It’s an archaic sport that’s been all but lost to history, but medieval combat fighting is being kept alive in Uralla. This weekend, Australia’s top competitors arrived in town to battle it out.  

The Plan B Regional Bash arrived in Tamworth this weekend, but the Sydney Cricket Ground awaits the winning team. The Northern Inland Bolters are in that race, thanks to a comfortable victory this morning over the Macquarie Coast Stingers  

The Xtreme Winch Challenge is ultimately a race against the clock. Driver, co-driver and vehicle were pushed to the limit in the final round of the series at Limbri.  

Organisers were overwhelmed with the response, when they kicked off the inaugural Summer Football competition. This year it’s back and it’s much bigger, with players of all abilities getting involved.  

The National Rugby Championship pathway has provided Tamworth’s Bo Abra with invaluable experience. It will only get better tomorrow, when he joins the starting line-up for the Canberra Vikings against the Western Force in the competition grand final.  

The North Tamworth Bears have been an unstoppable force in Group 4 rugby league in recent years, winning six straight premierships. Brad McManus was a big part of that and is returning to the club in 2020.  

Dylan Alcott has shared his incredible story in a speech to Tamworth’s business awards this week. The Paralympian was born with a rare tumour wrapped around his spinal cord, and has gone on to become one of Australia’s most celebrated athletes.
