For the third consecutive season, the Tamworth Pirates have defeated the Walcha Rams in the Central North Rugby grand final. The 26 to 24 win handing the Pirates their fourth premiership on the trot.  

In metropolitan areas like Sydney, men’s netball is exploding in popularity. The state’s peak body is hoping to expand that interest to the bush, with a new program that’s being rolled out in Tamworth.  

It’s a familiar rugby grand final clash – the Walcha Rams once again taking on the Tamworth Pirates in the top grade. Tomorrow the Pirates will head to the plateau, with teams to play in all four grand finals.

The Walcha Rams have a major shot at rugby redemption this Saturday when they host the Tamworth Pirates in the grand final. It would cap off what’s been a remarkable season for Walcha, having celebrated their 125th anniversary and a minor premiership.
