The Tamworth Thunderbolts are now one win away from qualifying for the 2019 grand final, after beating Sutherland last night at the Sports Dome. It went down to the wire, with Reece Chillingworth producing a stella performance.  

The regular season of North West AFL wrapped-up yesterday, with the New England Nomads recording a massive win over the Moree Suns. Meanwhile at Tamworth’s No.1. Oval, the Swans got the better of the Kangaroos in the local derby.

Tamworth BMX rider Jack Davis flew to America at the end of May, with aim of becoming a full-time professional. Last week his itinerary took him Belgium, where he contested the World Championships.  

The Tamworth Thunderbolts are on the verge of qualifying for the Waratah State League grand final. First they need to overcome Sutherland on Saturday, as the first round of the finals gets underway.  

It’s the ‘Get Talkin’ Tour’ – an initiative between mental health organisation Batyr and the New South Wales Positive Rugby Foundation. The tour is entering its second year, with the aim of using rugby to highlight mental health awareness.  

They’re sitting comfortably on the ladder heading into finals – but the Tamworth Swans aren’t planning on taking it easy. The team will go neck-and-neck with fellow town squad – the Tamworth Kangaroos – in a local showdown this weekend.
