The Kootingal-Moonbi Roosters have beaten Werris Creek in Group 4 rugby league, while nothing could separate Gunnedah and Dungowan. Meanwhile North Tamworth downed Boggabri, thanks to an Andrew Moodie hat-trick.  

It’s been a stella weekend for the Tamworth Thunderbolts, with the men’s team recording a 28-point win yesterday over Saint George. Meanwhile at the Sports Dome the Thunderbolts women’s side notched-up a comfortable win over Camden Valley Wildfire.  

Prior to yesterday’s match with Gunnedah, the Tamworth Pirates had recorded two narrow losses against Moree and Walcha. The defending premiers of Central North Rugby turned the tables yesterday, after a taxing three week period.  

The Gunnedah Show Society’s hosting some of the country’s best show-jumpers this weekend at the showground. For many of the riders, the three-day event is the perfect lead-up to the Winter Championships in Tamworth next weekend.  

They pushed competition leaders Coffs Harbour into overtime last round, but the women’s Thunderbolts eventually went down by two-points. Despite the loss, Tamworth head into tomorrow’s match brimming with confidence, as they eye-off a semi-finals berth.  

While the gymnastics component of the National Primary Games has already being held, the remaining sports are yet to be played. One week out from the carnival, it’s looking the biggest to date for the Northern Inland Academy of Sport.  

Tamworth Regional Council has jacked up the court hire cost at the city’s Sports Dome. The hike hasn’t gone down well with some sporting groups.  

He’s already signed a contract with the Parramatta Eels. But Farrer High School’s Cody Parry has once again caught the eye of selectors, named in the Australian Schoolboys team.  

Kids of all ages have taken from the couch to the court these school holidays in a tennis coaching camp. Brushing up on their skills and learning how to play the game are just two of the tips involved.

Country kids interested in playing league are being offered the chance to receive mentoring by some of the sport’s best coaches. The program’s part of a regional tour hoping to find the best footy feet from the country.
