It’s the last of the winter sports to get underway this season – Group 4 rugby league kicking off this Saturday. It begins with a special fundraising round for the Kootingal-Moonbi Roosters, as they pay tribute to the late referee Steve Pepperell.  

The Tamworth Thunderbolts will be chasing another victory this weekend, when they take on the Springwood Scorchers in Blaxland. It comes after their impressive 5-point win against the Newcastle Hunters, on the weekend.

‘You’re never to young to start playing rugby’, according to officials preparing for the start of the 20-19 season. It’s now only a few days until the Primary Schools’ Junior Rugby Competition begins across the North West.

The Tamworth Pirates have decimated their opposition year-after-year – regularly notching up wins of more than 50 points in Central North Rugby. Yesterday, the Walcha Rams gave them some of their own medicine.
