A record number of horse cutters competed in Armidale this weekend for the ‘cutting for Cash’ show. Horse cutting favourite Amelia Servin swiped a number of major medals, winning some cash for her efforts.

It was a big day of lawn bowls at West Tamworth Bowling Club today, with the Easter Carnival bringing the best to the green. It’s the first year the venue has held the event, with keen bowlers lining up in hope of taking out the winning shot.

It was up, up and away at Mount Borah today – with the Paragliding State of Origin getting underway for another year. The event attracts pilots from all over the country for a competitive and fun weekend of flying.

Two young Tamworth gymnasts will represent New South Wales at the Australian Championships in May. Amber Downes and Maisie Wilde both received medals at the state championship over the weekend.

Sydney club Southern Districts has taken out the top division at The Armidale School Rugby Carnival at the weekend. The two-day carnival saw 127-games of junior rugby played, with teams travelling from as far as WA and the Sunshine Coast.  

It’s early in the season however South Armidale’s form certainly indicates there’s promising things to come. A stark contrast to last season – where they finished bottom of the premier league ladder.
