It’s not your typical Friday night venue, though the Tamworth Freestyle Bouldering Gym has plenty of hanger-ons. Last night four teams battled it out, showing off their athleticism during a challenging end to the Ten4 Bouldering League season.  

The Quirindi Lions have been put through their paces by two of the game’s well-respected names. And the timing couldn’t have been better, with the Central North Rugby season starting tomorrow.

Since winning the Gunnedah Cup last May, local galloper ‘Unbiased’ has been lightly raced. It’s all part of a plan that trainer Cody Morgan hopes will see the six-year-old gelding peak when he lines-up in the Country Championships final.  

When the 2019 season got underway, all coach Robyn Skelton was looking for from the Tamworth Thunderbolts was “improvement.” The side answered her prayers in the opening round, beating Dubbo by 13 points, and now they’re planning ahead.  

The Titans have the Northern Rivers, the Roosters have the Central Coast, and now, it looks the Greater Northern Region will be linked to the Bulldogs. The NRL club has signed a new partnership deal with the Greater Northern Tigers.  

The Group 19 rugby league season is about to kick off – beginning with an important clash between the Boars and the Rams. Both sides are looking to prove themselves after unsuccessful finals campaigns in 2018.

The Tamworth Magpies and St Alberts College will go head to head this weekend for the annual Headspace Rugby fundraiser. It’s one of the largest games of the year – and players are looking to raise more than $10,000.

They were the only public school to compete in the tournament, which made their win that much sweeter. Warialda High School’s under-15 girls side was undefeated at the Canberra Grammar Invitational Sevens comp. They played private and independent schools from Sydney, Canberra and Queensland.
