Gunnedah has broken a 23-year drought – claiming the War Veterans Cup yesterday, against defending premiers Narrabri. Meanwhile, in the Connolly Cup, it was skipper Ben Middlebrook who guided Tamworth Blue to victory.

Predictably, it was Nemingha’s batting which proved the difference in yesterday’s Peel Valley Bush Cricket decider. The win, ending any hope of back-to-back titles for Goonoo Goonoo.  

Competitors have long made the pilgrimage to the Bendemeer Rodeo – some travelling from interstate, others just down the road. And the Bendemeer community reaps the rewards, with funds raised at the event poured back into the town.  

Hosted by New England Mountain Bikers – the National Cup got underway at SportUNE today. The opening day featuring the XCC category – an event that’s all about speed.

The Bendemeer Rodeo has long showcased Australia’s top riders – competing in respective disciplines for big prize-money. Though it showcases much more than talent – it happens to also illustrate an incredible sense of community spirit.
