Since 2016, the Tamworth Pirates have been filling their clubhouse with Central North Rugby premierships. This week, their tilt at further glory kicked-off, once again overseen by premiership winning coach Mat Kelly.

She’s only the second person to play 400 softball games for Australia – a tally Tamworth’s Stacey Porter will build on over the next four days in Sydney. The Aussie Spirit is one of seven teams competing at the Asia Pacific Cup, with Porter captaining the side. PLEASE NOTE: AUDIO UNAVAILABLE.  

A re-structure to the Hockeyroos leadership has seen Armidale’s Georgie Morgan announced as co-captain of the national team – a role she’ll share with Emily Chalker and Jodie Kenny. It’s the final round of the Summer Slam Series for the Tamworth Motorcycle Club. An event that’s drawn riders from as far north as Gladstone in Queensland – all are eager for a speedy Saturday night out, in Tamworth.  

Their experience matches their namesake and defending Twenty-20 champions, Old Boys are out to go back-to-back tomorrow night. It’s a decider under lights against Bective-East, a team who almost had their measure in the regular season.  

Tamworth’s 12th Landmark Classic campdrafting competition is just around the corner. Competitors from all over the region are saddling up for the nine-day event.  

Tamworth Senior Oztag resumes this week – organisers expecting record numbers to hit the field. Although grassroots participation is surging, the organisation plans to trial a new strategy to improve results at Nationals.

More than two-hundred paragliders are this week contesting Manilla’s annual Cross Country Paragliding Competition at Mount Bora… With the wind providing the perfect condition for flying amidst the summer heat.
