To Group 4 Rugby League – and the North Tamworth Bears remained in the top spot, defeating the Moree Boars 32 – 22 The Boars’ bad discipline proved their downfall.

The Saint Alberts rugby club have cemented their position as the team to beat in the New England Rugby union competition. Notching another convincing win over the Tamworth Magpies, they remain undefeated after six rounds.

An undefeated St Alberts outfit is hoping to snag its fifth consecutive win of the season. The boys will front the Tamworth Magpies for a second time this Saturday – and, they’re hoping fitness will be on their side.

Number One Oval will host a local derby this weekend, as the Tamworth Swans and Tamworth Kangaroos go head-to-head. The Swans sit at the top of the AFL ladder… but, a determined Roos outfit is right on their heels.

Tamworth sports fans will have plenty to choose from this June long weekend, with three major competitions being held. There’ll be events running for baseball, gymnastics AND hockey – all with the backing of the local council.

Quirindi’s Michael Slade missed out on winning the 500 CC long track slider state title at his home track but was still able to stand on the podium, finising third. Meanwhile Ipswich’s Jed List was crowned state champion.

The Kootingal Roosters put in a dominant performance against the Boggabri Kangaroos, holding them scoreless until half time. The Kangas did managed to fight back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough.

The Tamworth Pirates have fought back after a disastrous first half to defeat the Narrabri Blue Boars 29-24 in Central North Rugby.  

More than 250 riders hit Quirindi’s long track tomorrow on the quest for a state title. Local, Michael Slade will be looking to take out another championship – in front of a home crowd.
