Veteran cricketers from Tamworth and the Hunter will go head-to-head tomorrow in the Doug Walters Cup final. The local side is hoping to hang onto the trophy they’ve won for the past two years.

Football players from across the region arrived in Tamworth today, vying to take home the Johnson Cup. The event, also an opportunity for players to hone their skills, ahead of this year’s season.

The Armidale School will host the country’s largest junior rugby tournament, for a sixteenth time, this weekend. Hundreds of players are arriving from across the state and Queensland, to compete in the two-day Rugby Carnival.

Group 19 Rugby League will look a little different this year, with one of it’s most historic clubs folding. In it’s centenary year, Guyra Super Spuds have made the difficult decision due to a lack of player numbers.
