It has been four weeks since Tamworth’s City Swim Club’s members have dipped a toe in the water. Although they’re now able to return to the pool with the lifting of stay-at-home orders, the wait might not be over quite yet.

Tamworth’s Sam Hill is one to look out for in the cycling world. Currently part of the Zwift Academy online training program – Hill could soon have a chance of being in major rides like the Tour de France.

REMAINDER OF GROUP 4 RUGBY LEAGUE SEASON ABANDONED
The remainder of the Group 4 rugby season has been scrapped. With community sport to be off-limits even once lockdown lifts, and Narrabri remaining under stay-at-home orders, officials say the decision was all-but made for them. The 9s competition has also been cancelled, but could be played early next year.

SHONA EICHORN RETURNS AS NIAS CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
The Northern Inland Academy of Sport has a new CEO, and she’s a familiar face. Shona Eichorn was the organisation’s inaugural chief executive in 1992 – and she returns with the mission to keep it afloat during the pandemic.

LAKE KEEPIT SAILING CLUB UNVEILS ITS UPCOMING SEASON CALENDAR
Lake Keepit Sailing Club unveiled its spring calendar for the upcoming season. Its opening event, the Spring Races, had initially been slated for Father’s Day – competitors will now hit the water, as soon as lockdown lifts.

The Tamworth Mountain Bikers Club is one of the few local sporting organisations still pulling interest in lockdown. Organisers say virtual competitions have been taking place, with a Summer Series planned when restrictions ease.
