The Tamworth Magpies have finished the season with a 78 to nil win over the Barbarians in New England Rugby. The Magpies crossed for 12 tries – to finish second on the competition ladder.

The Australian Bushmen’s Campdraft and Rodeo Association has made the inevitable decision to cancel the National Finals. While the flagship event won’t go ahead in 2021, a possible alternative is being looked at.    

The Tamworth Magpies have progressed through the season with hardly a blemish – losing one game by a point to Walcha. Tomorrow they have the chance to finish on top of the ladder, although a loss could send them down the path to sudden-death semi-finals.

Earlier this year, Tamworth trainer Cody Morgan was involved a track-work riding incident that left him in hospital – undergoing surgery. Despite still recovering from his fall, Morgan is trackside – gearing up for a busy spring of racing.  

This year’s North West AFL men’s and women’s competition will see the top two teams at the end of the regular season advance through to the grand final. Tamworth Swan’s women’s side are well positioned to qualify, although they’re not calling it just yet.  

The Gunnedah Greyhound Racing Club will come alive on Friday, as the town hosts a heat of the Million Dollar Chase. The series will visit 15 regional locations before the best of the best race in the decider in Sydney.
