The Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation has today started up – to assist the region’s flood recovery. It will have sweeping powers across the region, including the ability to enforce buying and subdividing land. HUNDREDS OF TEACHERS WALK OFF THE JOB ON THE FAR NORTH COAST
Streets across the Far North Coast became a sea of red and yellow today, as hundreds of teachers walked off the job. They lost their classrooms in February – now months on from the catastrophic floods, they’ve have passed their breaking point.

FLOOD AFFECTED STUDENTS SWAP CLASSROOMS FOR OUTDOOR EDUCATION AT SUMMERLAND FARM
Students from flood affected Wardell public school have swapped their temporary classrooms for the outdoors. More than 30 students based at Alstonville Public, were able to take part in an agriculture and plant science education program at Summerland Farm. The students will remain at the temporary site until their school is rebuilt.

WOODBURN RESIDENTS MOVE INTO CARAVANS PROVIDED BY NSW GOVERNMENT & CAMPLIFY
Months on from losing their homes in Woodburn – some flood victims are starting to move into their new, temporary one’s. Caravans are being set up on streets, after extensive community consultation revealed a “pod style” village wouldn’t be effective.

TWEED SHIRE COUNCIL UNVEIL NEW LOOK GARBAGE TRUCKS
Tweed Shire Council today unveiled its new look garbage trucks, in a landmark deal with a local Tweed company worth $71-million. In partnership with Solo Resource Recovery, four new designs for collection trucks will be on display, promoting the “less to landfill” message. The waste collection and recycling contract begins tomorrow. (NO AUDIO)
