NORTH KINGLSIFF BEACH GETS NEW SAFETY BEACON
Beach goers can swim safer now at Tweed’s North Kingscliff beach. An emergency response beacon has been installed – which gives people a direct link to lifesaving services during emergencies at the unpatrolled beach. The number of patients with covid in hospital remains steady in the Northern Health District. 36 people are in care, one person remains in ICU. Infections increased overnight with 418 cases reported. (NO AUDIO)

32-YEAR-OLD MAN DROWNS AT NEW BRIGHTON BEACH
A 32-year-old man has died while swimming at New Brighton Beach yesterday afternoon. Emergency services were called to the unpatrolled beach after reports a man had been located unconscious in the water, around 4:45pm. Members of the public pulled the man to shore. They commenced CPR, but sadly he died at the scene.

SMALL DROP IN COVID CASES IN NORTHERN NSW OVERNIGHT
Northern New South Wales has seen a small drop in covid cases – the region recording 274 new infections, overnight. Most were detected in the Tweed, Ballina and Lismore areas. 34 patients are receiving care in hospital – one person is in ICU. (NO AUDIO)

CASINO BEEF WEEK SET TO GET BEEFED UP WITH $1 MILLION FEDERAL FUNDING
One of Casino’s biggest calendar highlights is set to be ‘beefed up’. Just three weeks out from the town’s 40th annual ‘Beef Week’, Agriculture Minister, David Littleproud, has announced three years worth of vital funding for the event. The cash is part of the government’s $6-million Large Agricultural Events Program.

THE SECOND TIME IN 34 YEARS BYRON BAY OCEAN SWIM CLASSIC IS HELD IN VERY WET WEATHER
It’s the second time in 34 years the Byron Bay Ocean Swim Classic has gone ahead in very wet weather.
