Alstonville Football Club is celebrating five decades since it opened its doors. Its produced many sports stars along the way, but members say the club’s success is down to its volunteers.

In a big loss to the racing community, Lismore’s Greyhound Track has announced it’s closing indefinitely. The news comes after the facility was destroyed in February’s floods – with no hope of repair.

The Lismore Joeys Mini World Cup has wrapped up, and one lucky local has won a trip to Germany. Organisers are already planning ahead for next year’s event, and have locked in some international talent.

After its last season was cut short in February, Richmond River Sailing Club is raring to go for its biggest event of the year. Its annual regatta is just around the corner – and members are ready to hit the water.

The Gilchrist Foundation will host its first inaugural dinner tomorrow, raising funds for young athletes. Stan Gilchrist, Father of Cricket legend Adam Gilchrist says the sold out dinner will be the first of many… All proceeds from the raffle and silent auction will go towards the Gilchrist Foundation scholarships.

The New South Wales Country Cockatoos may have narrowly missed out on claiming the Australian Rugby Shield, but they have done the Far North Coast proud. The representative squad was made of six local players, including the team’s captain.

Angourie’s Morgan Cibilic has narrowly made it through to the next round of the Challenger Series Vissla Pro in Portugal… Cibilic, managed to score this 6.40, putting him in the lead by 0.70. Meanwhile, Mikey McDonagh from Lennox Head has been eliminated.

Lennox Head groms have brought home gold, after winning their respective age groups at the Surfer Groms Comp in South Australia. Isabel O’Boyle took out both under 10s and 12s girls titles, while her brother Connor O’Boyle won the under 10s boys division, and placed second in the under 12s. (NO AUDIO)

Dozens of athletes across the Northern Rivers have received a helping hand to pursue their passion – in the form of government grants. Some have high hopes of qualifying for the Olympics, and they’re now a step closer to making the dream come true.
