COMMUNITIES SOUTH OF LISMORE HOPING THEY’VE SEEN THE WORST OF THE FLOODING
The Wilsons River peaked at 11.4 metres, it’s now sitting under 10 metres and is receding. There are still eight evacuation orders impacting thousands of people across the region. The SES has been called out to 100 requests for help – including to multiple communities south of Lismore.

Lismore isn’t the only community that’s been bracing for the worst. People in parts of Tumbulgum, Coraki, Mullumbimby and Billinudgel have also been told to evacuate.

A group of Mid North Coast councillors and mayors are banding together, calling on the federal government to do more to help flood ravaged communities. One local mayor are concermed the recent Northern Rivers disaster could be a precursor for what’s to come.

There are calls for a jobkeeper-style payment in the Northern Rivers, to ensure flood-affected businesses have enough staff when they reopen. It comes as the region – weeks deep into the recovery phase – braces for the possibility of more heavy rain.

FLOODED NORTH COAST ROADS SET TO GET A MAKEOVER
Flood affected roads on the Far North Coast are set to get a makeover, with $46 million dollars of state funding announced today. The cash is also fast tracked – so that roads can be fixed sooner rather than later, and towns can be reconnected.
