Two brothers lost their home this morning, when fire tore through the mid north coast property. Witnesses and fire crews raced to help, but nothing could be done to save the Kempsey house, which it’s believed wasn’t insured.

A house has been destroyed by fire at Kempsey this morning. Fire crews were called to the Regent Street property at around 8.30am and found the weatherboard home well alight. Plans to build a cinema complex in Kempsey have hit a speed bump, with a funding application being knocked back. The Hastings and Macleay are continuing to experience minor flooding, despite the rain easing overnight. In Wauchope, the Hastings River peaked at 3.68 metres this morning.
