The Kyogle Show was in full swing today with a mixture of new attractions, and old favourites. Hundreds of breeders turning out to the Champion Dog Show in near-record numbers – each hoping their dog will have its day.  

Further north, Labor has pledged $9-million to help upgrade Kyogle’s wooden bridges if elected. The changes would see load limits increased. The announcement comes a week after Nationals’ member for Page Kevin Hogan promised $4-million for similar work. (AUDIO IN PARTS)    

The first sod has been turned on a $10 million upgrade to Kyogle’s aged care facility. Partly funded by the Commonwealth – the project will provide 24 more beds as well as construction and nursing jobs.  

Two new bridges have opened at Kyogle, with the federal government committing to fund two more. Today, Page MP Kevin Hogan unveiled the new Campbell and Hyde Bridges along Lynches Creek Road. They were upgraded at a cost of almost $2-million. The nearby Mathews Bridge and Hootons Bridge at Tabulam are next on the list.…

It’s been nearly two years in the making, now the newly revamped Kyogle Memorial Institute Hall is open. The heritage-listed building adding an additional art gallery and function space to it’s layout.  

Kyogle’s basket-ballers have an extra spring in their step with the town to get a new basketball facility. The town’s netball courts will double as interchangeable basketball courts, allowing users to switch between the two sports The work will start in six weeks and be finished by mid May. Rural Fire Service Commissioner, Shane Fitzsimmons has visited Kyogle for the opening of the region’s new RFS headquarters. It’s hoped the station will encourage new members to join, as fire fighters head south to help battle out-of-control bushfires in Tasmania.
