    Northern Rivers Rugby League is back, with Evans Head off to a strong start. The club won all three games over the Casino Cougars yesterday. Meanwhile Byron Bay notched up a 20 to 16 win over Mullumbimby.

    Round four of the NRRRL went ahead yesterday, and there were some big scores in both competitions. Inside the bubble, Murwillumbah flogged Cudgen and Tweed Coast only just managed a win over Bilambil. In the gold competition, Ballina tripled Casino’s points and Northern United showed no mercy when they lined up against Mullumbimby.

    “Have your adventures, hug your loved ones.” That’s what the family of Timothy Watkins asked the Mullumbimby community to do, as they farewelled their ‘lovable larrikin’ today. The 22-year-old was found dead on Wilson’s Creek Road two weeks ago, killed by an unknown person in a hit and run.

    Round three of the NRRRL saw the Ballina Seagulls have a convincing win over the Mullumbimby. The Giants were hard in defence but it wasn’t enough to bring home a win, the Seagulls triumphant – 32-6.

    Returning to rugby league now and in the NRRRL it was a close second game of the season, with Casino beating Mullumbimby in a 24-18. The hot competition on field was no match for the scorching conditions, forcing teams to take an early break off field.
