Police are describing it as a malicious act…Holes drilled into the pipeline of an emergency water supply on the Mid North Coast. It’s a crime that’s now delaying the new desalination plant at Nabiac.  

MidCoast Council is installing a temporary desalination plant at the Nabiac Aquifer to supply emergency water to the region. The situation so dire, it’ll likely need to be switched on when complete in a matter of months.  

Nabiac’s CBD saw officers conducting high visibility policing today, as the Manning-Great Lakes men and woman in blue confronted the issues in the community. Touring the region since June, the team of officers are hoping to engage locals in a new program.  

A 61-year-old man is in a stable condition after crashing his motorbike at Nabiac this afternoon. Emergency crews were called out just before 2pm to find the rider had come off his motorcycle. The man was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a stable condition. (VISION ONLY)  

After months of testing, the taps have been turned on at the Nabiac Aquifer water supply today. MidCoast Council estimate that it’ll provide 70-thousand residents with access to high-quality drinking water. The $35 million project is designed to improve water security for the Manning and Great Lakes community. (VISION ONLY)
