In the NRL, and the Knights took plenty of confidence out of beating the Titans, but Nathan Brown says the Rabbitohs will be a much bigger challenge. The coach is hoping to name an unchanged line-up, with Brock Lamb and Danny Levi being monitored for minor injuries.

Brendan Elliott is going to be targeted at fullback this weekend – but he says he’s up for the challenge. Elliott will step into the role against the Titans, following the season-ending injury to Dylan Phythian.

Try as they might, the Knights couldn’t start the 2017 season with a win – but they went close. Also this afternoon, Parramatta beat the Sea Eagles by eight, while Newcastle surrendered the lead twice across the Tasman.

The Knights say they’re more excited than nervous about their first round trip across the Tasman to face the Warriors. A handful of players will be handed first grade debuts, including local junior, Luke Yates.

In a move that could change the NRL, former Newcastle winger James McManus is suing the club over the way it handled his concussions. The 31-year-old struggled with ongoing headaches and mood swings during his decorated career, and believes the Knights could have done more.

Nathan Brown is taking nothing away from the Knights, following their big win over the understrength Raiders.

Knights back-rower Mitch Barnett has bulked up considerably in the off season in an attempt to fill the void left by Jeremy Smith. Barnett played nine games for the Knights last season.
