    Police are appealing for witnesses, following an armed hold-up in Ballina this afternoon. Just after 4 o’clock, a man entered a tobacco store in the Wigmore Arcade and threatened two employees with a knife. He’s described as being Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 20s.     A 17-year-old girl has undergone surgery at Lismore Base Hospital, after being stabbed. The teenager was found in the front yard of a home on Shearman Drive at Goonellabah at around 2:20am, suffering multiple stab wounds. She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the girl knew her attacker.
