LIFEGUARDS WRAP UP SUCCESSFUL PATROL SEASON
Port Macquarie-Hastings lifeguards are taking a well-deserved break, after what they’ve described as a successful patrol season. Almost 100 beach rescues were conducted across the region since September last year. Lifeguards also performed 680 first aid treatments and more than 5,000 preventative actions. Patrols will resume in September.

The Mid North Coast has received some top-level input ahead of next weekend’s Country rugby Championships. Wallabies scrum coach Mario Ledesma passed on some tips at the Axemen’s final training session today.

SHARKS FORCE FLYNNS BEACH EVACUATION
Port Macquarie’s Flynns Beach was evacuated today, after two small sharks were seen swimming close to shore. The Whaler Sharks, measuring 1.3 and 1.8-metres, were spotted by a DPI helicopter shortly after 11 o’clock. Lifeguards reopened the beach a short time later, after the sharks moved back out to sea.
