A Great Lakes charity is preparing to re-open, after struggling through the pandemic. Riding for the Disabled is welcoming back it’s riders and volunteers… But, first the horses will need to settle into new stables.  

For those recovering from the November bushfires, it continues to be a long, hard slog. But there’s a small sign of normality returning to the Mid North Coast, with work to begin on Rainbow Flat RFS later this month.  

Riders have returned to Riding for the Disabled at Rainbow Flat, for the first time since fire nearly destroyed the facility last year. The return was all the more sweeter, thanks to a generous grant.  

The Manning Great Lakes Archers are looking to rebuild, after their clubhouse was destroyed by the Hillville fire in November. The destruction has meant they can’t host their annual international tournament in two weeks’ time.  

Last year’s devastating Rainbow Flat fire forced charity organisation, Riding for the Disabled, to evacuate their stock. The horses have recently returned home, and volunteers are preparing them for what’s hoped to be a successful year.  

Thousands of homes have been destroyed by bushfires across the state – a number of them on the Mid North Coast. The state government’s official clean-up began today in one of the hardest hit areas.  

The state’s Parliament Speaker travelled through the Manning-Great Lakes region today, visiting bushfire affected towns. Jonathan O’Dea says he’ll be supporting the bushfire recovery, along side the local state member.  

A Brazilian man has died and another is fighting for his life in hospital, after a car crash near Rainbow Flat overnight. Two other passengers suffered minor injuries.
