    Avoca Lifesaver Riley Fitzsimmons has won gold for Australia, at the opening Canoe Sprint World Cup in Germany. The 19 year-old teamed with Ken Wallace, Jacob Clear and Jordan Wood to claim victory in the K4 1000.

    After being named in the Australian Kayaking team for the Rio Olympics, Riley Fitsimmons has returned to the Coast to compete at the State Surf Titles. However it was another teenager who starred at Umina this morning – 17 year old Gemma Smith, who won the semi-final of the open ironwoman.

    Since its first 12 Scholarships were granted in 2009, the Donnica Clarke Foundation has provided more than $150,000 in funding to Central Coast athletes. Applications are now open, with 2016 recipients to be announced in April.
