Avoca Lifesaver Riley Fitzsimmons has won gold for Australia, at the opening Canoe Sprint World Cup in Germany. The 19 year-old teamed with Ken Wallace, Jacob Clear and Jordan Wood to claim victory in the K4 1000.

DONNICA CLARKE FOUNDATION BREAKS THE CENTURY
The Donnica Clarke Foundation has announced its Class of 2016 and cracked a century in the process. 56 athletes have received a total of 108 Scholarships, worth more than $165 000 dollars.

RODWELL THE GOLDEN GIRL IN U17 IRONWOMAN
Newport has claimed the double with Georgia Miller and Dane Farrell winning the prestigious Ironwoman and Ironman, at the New South Wales Surf Lifesaving Championships. Umina won gold in the Under-17 women’s event, with a surprise victory for Jazmyn Rodwell.

UMINA TEENAGER STARS IN IRONWOMAN SEMI
After being named in the Australian Kayaking team for the Rio Olympics, Riley Fitsimmons has returned to the Coast to compete at the State Surf Titles. However it was another teenager who starred at Umina this morning – 17 year old Gemma Smith, who won the semi-final of the open ironwoman.

APPLICATIONS OPEN FOR SPORTING SCHOLARSHIPS
Since its first 12 Scholarships were granted in 2009, the Donnica Clarke Foundation has provided more than $150,000 in funding to Central Coast athletes. Applications are now open, with 2016 recipients to be announced in April.

The 42nd Central Coast Sports Federation Awards will be held tonight at Mingara. Winter Olympian Matt Graham, Australian hockey star Matt Dawson and world junior kayak champion Riley Fitzsimmons the leading contenders to be named Sports Star of the Year.
