‘THE MISSILE’ CLAIMS GOLD AT GLASGOW
Port Macquarie swimmer, James Magnussen, has claimed a gold medal in the 100-metres freestyle at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The two-time world champion finished the race in a time of 48.11 seconds, ahead of fellow Australian Cameron McEvoy. It’s Magnussen’s second medal at the games, following the men’s 4×100-metre freestyle win on Friday.

SEA OF GREEN AND GOLD SUPPORT ON DAY 4 OF SPECIAL OLYMPICS
With special olympic competition wrapping up throughout the Hunter today, athletes from all 30 nations were giving it one last go. A sea of green and gold support at the swimming seemed to do the trick for the host nation as it rained medals at the pool.
