The Central Coast has once again recorded 36 new Covid infections. Meanwhile people gathered at The Entrance to highlight what they consider to be discrimination – angered by the government’s vaccine mandate for frontline workers.

Central Coast Council’s administrator says its hefty rate rise will need to continue over a decade, to surface from its financial debt. The organisation has locked in a slim $7 million surplus, in the year ahead – cutting services like The Entrance Library.

The stretch of road between The Entrance and Magenta has caused many injuries and even cost lives – but Wilfred Barrett Drive will be made safer. More than $22-million will be spent on widening the road and installing barriers.

The state government has made additional funding available, to help waterways like the Entrance Channel. The Entrance township has copped another loss with the local Commonwealth Bank branch announcing it’s closing permanently. It temporarily shut last year during the height of the pandemic.

The Entrance was full of life today for its annual multicultural celebration – the Flavours by the Sea festival attracting a crowd of hundreds. It’s the first council-run event to return to the Central Coast after more than a year of covid cancellations.

Community members still feel Central Coast Council took too long to open the Entrance Channel during the 2020 floods. It comes after the release of yesterday’s study report – which suggests council acted at the right time.
