BIKERS TO RALLY AGAINST SPEED CUTS
Angry motorbike riders will rally in Wauchope and Walcha on Saturday, to protest plans to reduce speed limits on the Oxley Highway. They say the proposal will take the enjoyment out of riding the iconic 160-kilometre stretch, which is popular among tourists. Protestors will set-off at 10am and ride to Gingers Creek.

NEW SPORTS PRECINCT FOR WAUCHOPE
After weeks of uncertainty, the fate of the sporting fields at Tuffins Lane has been decided. Port Macquarie-Hastings Council has chosen to turn its back on the site, and build a new precinct at Wauchope.

TIMBER BRIDGES TO BE REPLACED
Port Macquarie-Hastings Council will upgrade three old timber bridges on Comboyne Road, west of Wauchope. The bridges across Hyndmans, Hartys and Bulli Creeks will be demolished and replaced with concrete. Speed reductions will be in place next week, while vegetation clearing is done at Hyndmans Creek. Construction of the new bridges will start next year.…

VINTAGE DIRT BIKES HIT THE HASTINGS
The rivalry between New South Wales and Queensland was on full display in Wauchope this weekend, for the inaugural Vintage Motocross State of Origin. BRAD BURNS WINS WAUCHOPE PRO-AM
Queensland golfer Brad Burns has finished on 5 under par 137, to claim the Wauchope Pro-Am. The overnight leader held out a fast-finishing Dimi Papadatos. Local hope David Bransdon finished third, in the latest stop on the state-wide series.

POOL OPENING EXPECTED BY CHRISTMAS
The upgrade of Wauchope’s Memorial Olympic Pool, has been delayed – but is expected to be open before Christmas. The multi-million-dollar revamp includes a new heating system, access ramps and concrete replacement. The Council-funded project began in May, with $1.5 million in Federal Funding also going towards a children’s play area.

HASTINGS CAFES ENCOURAGED TO GO ALFRESCO
Cafe owners in small towns outside Port Macquarie are being encouraged to make the most of their picturesque settings by providing outdoor dining. Council wants more businesses to go alfresco, in order to reel in extra visitors.
