Bad news for Hunter beachgoers tonight, with five months of near-perfect surf conditions coming to an end. There’s been almost 160 days of consecutive offshore winds and a reliable swell, thanks to a weather pattern that began around the time of the April storm.

Cool, dry, south-westerly winds moved across the region today, making for perfect blues skies overhead. Afternoon cloud increased, building to some isolated storm activity in south east Queensland and north east New South Wales. A nice, big storm rolled over Coolangatta.
