A local legend returns to Central Coast Rugby League this weekend, with Dean Amos to play for Wyong. The 39-year old will line up against Erina in the opening match of the season, along with former Newcastle Knights forward Kurt Warden.

The Wyong Roos have overcome a formidable Mounties outfit to win their first New South Wales Cup game of the season. Captain Mitch Williams was knocked out cold within the first ten minutes but it was Tyler Cornish’s precision with the boot that saw the Roos 24-18 victors.

After reaching last year’s New South Wales Cup Grand Final, six Wyong players have been rewarded, with a place in the Roosters team for the Auckland Nines. The Tri-colours face the Eels in their first match tomorrow.

NINES TOURNAMENT ATTRACTS NRL SIDE
A week before the NRL Auckland Nines, the Central Coast will stage its own version. Berkeley Vale Rugby League club will host its fourth tournament in memory of Jason Annear, and the second annual women’s competition, honouring former Life Member Maree Kelly.
